August is already here and the 2022 Leeds Festival is just around the corner. We will continue to provide information and updates via the Thorner Village website. Do keep checking and if you need further information we can be contacted via the email address below
We have closed the ticketing system for 2022. Festival Republic will be sending e-tickets to the email addresses you have provided just a few days before the festival so don’t expect anything until nearer the time. We will confirm a precise timetable on the village website and also details of what to do if you don’t receive or can’t access the e-tickets
In the interests of safety and importantly, to reduce the number of short car journeys, we would ask residents to use the free shuttle bus. The bus is for Thorner residents and their household guests only and will operate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It will run every 30 minutes or sooner if full, from 11:30 at the Mexborough Arms. Pick up and drop off points are as in previous years, The Mexborough Arms, the top of Church Hill and inside Yellow Gate. The last bus will leave Yellow Gate at 03:00 each day
TCF Team – Arrivals and Departures
This year has seen the departure of Nick Tucker and Gillian Riley from the team. We would like to thank them both for their work on the TCF committee over many years. After a recruitment exercise earlier in the year, Zoe Staines, Sheila Llewellyn and Alister Turnbull have recently joined the team. We wish them well in their roles and in developing the TCF agenda for the coming years
Grant Strategy 2022/23
After more than 15 years of investment in village groups and facilities amounting to well over half a million pounds, we have, more recently, been seeking to sponsor groups or projects within the village with a Green/Environmental focus. The weather over the last few weeks has again reminded us why the UK has declared a climate change emergency and we are keen to make a difference where we can.
Over the next weeks and months as our new committee members get to grips with their new roles we will be reviewing and developing our thinking on the of Community Fund grant set up. Importantly we will be considering how we can bring views from across the community into grant planning for the coming year and seek your help in delivering something really worthwhile in the village. Please look out for future communication and updates on the Thorner Village Website.
