ELOR Archaeology Webinar – Discover the Archaeology of East Leeds – Wednesday 29 July 2020 from 6 – 7pm

The ELOR project team would like to invite you to join the ELOR Archaeology Webinar. Find out about the history of East Leeds. The opportunity to speak with the archaeologists on site and ask questions. Details to register below.

On the East Leeds Orbital Route (ELOR) we are currently undertaking an extensive programme of archaeological investigation works prior to constructing the new road using a specialist archaeology company. This involves the excavation of 219 trial trenches between Red Hall and Manston Lane as well as metal detection works between Red Hall and Wood Lane as a mitigation technique to investigate the possibility of recovering battle field archaeology from the battle of Winwaed. There has been a lot of local interest in the archaeology works so we have set up a webinar which will provide the opportunity to engage with the specialists and find out more about the works that are currently ongoing. This include a virtual tour of a section of the works and showing some of the artefacts found. Please see the details of the webinar below:

Experts from Wessex Archaeology will talk you through archaeological processes and the current excavations taking place along the East Leeds Orbital Route. Find out why archaeology is important as we show you some of the artefacts and features we have found along the route.

You will be able to pose your own questions to the Wessex Archaeology team in a Q&A session at the end of the webinar.
